A new city is no more stranger to a girl, thanks to 30 startup apps

Team IndianCEO brings you the story of a girl, who used 30 startup apps to make a new city her friend.

“I am basically from a small town recently moved to a new metro city to join my dream job. I’m a bit reserved and hesitate to make new friends, especially in a new place. It takes great amount of time and effort to become familiar to a new place.

I am nervous about relocating but equally excited about my new job.

The big day of relocating has finally come, with packed luggage, strong mind, and dreams that needed to come true; I started off with my journey.

To overcome this fear for the sake of my job & dreams I decided to become friends with mobile apps.

Here I would like to open few pages from my dairy to share how I settled in a new city:

Day 1:

6.00 am :  I reached the city.

6.10 am :  Downloaded “Uber” and Paytm“, the first ride is free 😉

6.12 am : Cab checked in, quick response!

7 am :  Booked a service apartment through “Oyo rooms” near my workplace. In a day or two, I will be moving into a flat.

8 am:  Made couple of calls to my family, and realized I am on roaming. Recharged with Mobikwik. Got cash back!!

8.30 am: Had breakfast and booked Ola cab to work place. Though it’s pretty close, but I didn’t want to take a chance on first day in the new city. I noted the route.

It was a nice conversation with the cab “bhayya”, he said his earning almost equals to a software engineer!!! (Depends on the performance ;))

9 am:  At work, it’s cool to be early on the first day.

9.15 am: Took a selfie and uploaded in Instagram,  Snapchat Of course Whatsapp profile pic changed. Replied to friend’s text.

9.30 am: Day has began!

10.30 am: What a nice day at work 🙂

11 am: Break time. Induction completed. Had intro with teammates, little chit chat and over the conversation came to know one teammate’s birthday is today, we planned  to throw surprise, ordered cake from Zomato Order app, it has many options.

12 pm: Session resumed. Bit boring!!!

1 pm: Party began. Cake cutting, followed by the lunch treat. Ordered from “Swiggy“. Food came super fast and piping hot. Enjoyed the food!!

2 pm: Session resumed.

3 pm:  Break, planning to find a flat to move out. Browsed few apps Housing, Commonfloor, Quickr, Olx. Found few options and planning to check them out, since tomorrow is a holiday.

5 pm: Back to my place.

6 pm: Did some girly shopping through Myntra, Jabong. Ordered formal wear to my workplace address. Feeling better 🙂

6.30 pm:  Made some calls to the flat owners, I shortlisted 3 and will visit tomorrow with two other colleagues.

8 pm: Watched some online episodes in TVF PLAY app while the TV is on. Was wondering if I’m the only person to watch like this 😛

9 pm: Had a hectic day. Feeling uneasy with a migraine. Browsed couple of health sites and managed to get a doctor through “zozz” app. Felt hesitant, but have no option.

Doctor visited with in 20 min and took medicine. Never knew that I could get a doctor visit my place. I was fast asleep.

10 pm: Bed time.

2nd Day:

7 am: I slept like a baby. Good morning.

7.30 am: Did yoga and meditation.

8 am: Got ready.

8.30 am: Had breakfast. This time booked an auto through jugnoo app.

9 am: Started to check out flats with my other 2 teammates. Now they became good friends.

11 am: Finally confirmed one, which is ready to move in with pre-installed wifi. Agreements and other stuff are done. Now we have fixed address to get orders delivered 🙂

1pm: We sat and planned about the things, which are needed.

2 pm: This is the fastest time ever I have shopped in my entire life.

3 pm : Bought basic stuff like

Kitchenware & electronics: Flipkart, Snapdeal.

Grocery and other stuff: Bigbasket, Grofers. Bb has scheduled delivery slot and 1 hour express delivery also. Interesting!!! We might use this frequently.

4 pm: Browsed Urbanladder, Pepperfry, OLX and Quickr for the furniture and other stuff.

We will figure out this furniture over the weekend.

6 pm: Went back to my room and checked out.

7 pm: Shifted to my Apartment.

8 pm: Ordered food from Foodpanda. May be we had to depend on food delivery apps for few days till we settle down. Explored few nearby food joints through Zomato search.

9 pm: Jungle book trailer is out, we remembered our childhood memories.

Actually, we have plans to watch “The jungle book” this weekend. Booked tickets in BookmyShow.

9.30 pm: Booked laundry pick up from ” Doormint” for tomorrow.

10 pm: Just checked out Twitter, Facebook, and Tinder 😉 with common interests as Explore the new city

10.30 pm: Good night.

3rdDay:

9 am – 5 pm: At work!!!

Pretty much re-usage of some apps and online shopping, games, browsing, few apps just opened and closed with push notifications.

Many important apps like banking and ticket booking apps are installed.

5 pm: Booked salon appointment through Ziffi app.

6 pm: Found new transportation option “Commut” which provides a convenient and affordable way of travelling to work everyday.

In this new age, everything is hyperlocal and most of the services are delivered at home.

This is how I have moved into this beautiful new city independently without any hassles.”

We hope you liked this girls experience and could relate to her. Soon we will come back with more interesting write-ups, about how these new tech start ups have influenced her life.
