Creating a buzz even before its formal launch, T-Hub, India’s largest technology incubator, is almost completely booked, attracting over 130 startups from across the country. In order for expansion, Telangana officials have decided to expand T-Hub which will in between 300,000 and 350,000 square feet. After completion, T-Hub will be largest startup incubator.
T-Hub aims to provide the right ecosystem for startups and making Hyderabad the startup capital of India. The facility was formally inaugurated by Tata Sons Chairman Ratan Tata along with Telangana Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan on November 5th, 2015.
The new facility will be completely operational by mid-2018. The current largest startup incubator of the country is in Hubballi, Karnataka. The operation will complete taking place by September 2018. The incubator is supported by Deshpande Foundations. Read more about Hubballi Incubator.
Srinivas Kollipara, founder and CEO of T-Hub said, “It’s an incubator. Today we have 70,000 square feet and the new one will be between 3-3.5 lakh square feet. That will be one of the largest in the world. The government is handling the investment piece; they’re building it out and handing it to us.”
While India gained the Top-3rd position in the world in the startup ecosystem, new startups show up frequently. The new expansion of will is able to provide much more space for the upcoming startups. The new space will provide the much-needed boost for Indian Startups.
Commenting on the new space, “Here (in the current facility) we had to keep our teams very small because space was very limited. But what you really want is to keep companies as they mature because they are the ones that have valuable lessons for the young ones,” says Mr Kollipara.
After the completion of new space, Telangana’s T-Hub will be able to regain its position as the largest startup incubator of the country, followed by Hubballi incubator. Read more about Startup Ecosystem.
