Funds can be deployed as follows

When the funds are being raised, the founders of any start up will invariably have to spell out their plans regarding the Application of those funds. Different start ups have different needs and positions and therefore decide based on their situation.  However, Product development and Marketing are the most popular areas where funds are used by a start up.

In my view, the point is that investment is only interesting to startups and investors if the money involved can be put to good business purpose. Everybody wins when the new funds generate growth. Investors want to see those funds dedicated to product development, marketing, or whatever helps to hit the important milestone and reach the next inflection points in valuation.

Depending on different objectives of the business, Funds could be used for

  • Expanding to other markets
  • Reorganising the company from an unstructured startup to a structured one – with set processes and developing certain capabilities to execute the next stages of the business plan.
  • Hiring new talent
  • Technology Upgradation to make the product more scalable and Robust.
  • Working Capital to cover the Operational Cost.
  • Market Expansion so that the product can reach more people
  • Reputation and PR which enhances the organization’s capability to recruit and hire partners.
