School Boy from Arunachal, Develops Goggles for Blind using Parking Sensors

Meet Anang Tadar, A class XI student from New Galaxy Academy, Nirjuli, Arunachal. He has done an incredible invention which will make lives of visually impaired people easier. Anang has developed goggles for blind people with the help of Parking Sensors Technology. HE named his invention ‘Goggle for Blinds’ (G4B) which aims at visually impaired people to detect objects around them without any physical contact – How noble and thoughtful is that for an XI standard boy..!!

Anang Tadar comes from a poor family. Seeking for the support, Anang approached Chief Minister of Arunachal, Pema Khandu for the help. The Chief Minister got really impressed by the product and provided full financial support to develop the prototype.

Echolocation is the technology which uses sound waves and echoes to determine where objects are in space. It is primarily used by bats to navigate and find food in the dark. When an obstacle is detected, a beep sound is heard through the audio output along with vibration to alert the person.

Anang has hobbies of making robots and gadgets which are related to technology. When asked about the Idea, Anang told that he got the motivation when he saw a blind girl on the streets of Nirjuli a few years ago.

His invention was adjudged the most innovative in recently concluded Regional Level Science Festival at Regional Science centre in Guwahati and was awarded the Dinanath Pandey Smart Idea Innovation Award.

Earlier this month, Anang has participated in the National Level Science Exhibition held at Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi. There, he managed to impress Honey Bee Network, which is in collaboration with the National Ignition Facility (NIF) Society for Research and Initiatives for Sustainable Technologies and Institutions (SRISTI), Global Youth Action Network (GYAN) and United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF).

After the exhibition, NIF and UNICEF approached Anang and asked Anang to create a few prototypes for the visually impaired to test. NIF will help Anang in tailoring the prototype to make it easy to carry around. Read more about Indian Startup Ecosystem.
