Highways are fun and safer with Highway Delite app!

Highway Delite, is the only mobile app in India to assist highway travelers with verified information of highway services. The mobile app enables commuters to have real time location based highway services information including facilities information and photos of verified restaurants, fuel pumps, lodge with photos of restroom. Further, the platform has for the first time ever introduced accident zones on the map and provided the nearest emergency contact information. Also the app has already mapped 500 of the 770 accident black spots pan India, the list of which is shared by Ministry of Roadways, Transport and Highways. The app also have information for categories including mechanic, highway emergency contact, hospitals, pharmacy, and toll gates.

The app was created mainly to address the pain points of highway commuters. The major pain points of highway travelers include:

  • Not sure of good restaurants which provide quality and hygiene food
  • Not aware of availability of hygienic wash-rooms
  • Not aware of safe stays options
  • No point of contact for emergency/medical/ mechanic requirements

The app can be used pan India also with limitation of non-verified information. Currently, the app provides 6000+KMs of verified highway information 4000+ verified outlets. The app has already have more than 10,000 downloads (all organic) and has enabled about 100,000 searches on the highway routes. Few of the routes available on the app are:

  • Bangalore-Mysore-Coorg-Mangalore-Hasaan-Bangalore
  • Bangalore-Chitradurga-Hubli-Belgaum-Goa
  • Bangalore- Hampi
  • Bangalore- Chikmangalur
  • Mysore-Gudalpete-Wayanad-Calicut-Kochi
  • Bangalore- Hyderabad-Vijayawada
  • Bangalore-Kolar-Tirupati-Madanapalli-Bangalore
  • Delhi- Agra, Delhi- Jaipur, Delhi- Chandigarh-Shimla
  • Indore-Ujjain
  • Guwahati-Shillong-Cherrapunji

The start-up is incubated at NS Raghavan Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (NSRCEL) at IIM Bangalore and supported by Mobile 10x, an IAMAI Initiative. Very recently, Highway Delite also received a grant amount of Rs 35 lakhs from Government of Karnataka, to cover the State’s highways and play supporting role in promoting state tourism.

The app can be used either to plan your road trip by ‘Search Along Route’ by entering the your source and destination or can be used real time location basis through ‘Search Near Me’ option, which would show nearest options in the range of 15 Kms. The app also provides you with option of filters to narrow down your search. For example- for a family traveler, you can search restaurant having children play area. For night travelers, you can filter fuel pump which are open 24 hours with credit card facility. The app has also partnered with few restaurant to offer exclusive discounts for travelers with Highway Delite app.

Through Highway Delite mobile app,  the travelers would have single point verified information platform about good restaurants, hygienic wash-rooms, safe stays, emergency numbers, mechanic service and other necessary services required for their highway travel.

In the next version, Highway Delite app would enable travelers to add photos and information of any highway outlet on the highways and get incentivized for the same. Further, the app would be able to alert the travelers about upcoming accident zones and also alert about the last fuel pump before the ghat section of various highways.

Founded in May 2015, by Rajesh G, who comes from a defence family background and have traveled lengths and breadth of India during his schooling. Even for Highway Delite, Rajesh himself has traveled about 3500+Kms of highways for verification. He is currently supported by 3 member team including Manoj (Lead Backend Developer), Aswath (Android Developer) and Mallanna (Data Analyst) along with small team of college interns.
