EduTech startups: all set to bring revolution in Indian Education system

Education industry in India growing rapidly with new ways to learn and teaching. The concept of education startups and online learning is rising in terms of expectations that changing preferences of people. Many of Edutech startups already raised big numbers in 2017 and investors showing more interest in Indian education system.

All the startups covering different aspects of study like some provide better coaching on any particular subject, some help you prepare for entrance exams and others focused on non-academic courses.

Here I listed some of the innovative education startups that are all set to education revolution in India.

1. Meritnation: School made easy

Meritnation is an online portal with content aligned with various state boards curriculum that includes ICSE and CBSE. The startup launched in 2009 by Pavan Chauhan with Edutech idea where students can learn through live video lectures and pre-recorded videos. Along with the tutorial, they also provide regular tests and assignments to cover complete learning and practicing.

With the latest funding of 25 crores from Info Edge Limited, Maritnation managed to rise in a total of around INR 96 crore from different investors. By providing excellent tutoring and all-covered courses Maritnation created a doubt free environment for school students with innovative video lectures and tutorials.

They provide the website as well as mobile app and as per the play store listing app gained 5 million installs of the app and in total 95 lakhs users as per the company.

CultureAlley – Language learning app

The concept is a bit different but related to education. With CultureAlley you can learn different languages very easily. As per the survey, 1 billion people around the world try to learn a foreign language every year and 60 percent of them are learning English. CultureAlley founded by husband-wife Nishant Patni and Pranshu Bhandari from Jaipur.

They raised $6.15 million from Tiger Global management after seed funding. Their app HelloEnglish provide a free English learning app that helps you learn the English language by developing the vocabulary.

Their learning method is a bit different from the traditional tutorials and videos and you can learn any selected language easily performing different tasks. They provide some rewards after each task completion which are capable to hold users on track.

The program crossed 500000 learners from all around the globe and getting a good response from investors to scale it bigger.

Embibe:

Embibe is focused on entrance exams, especially for engineering students. Founded by Aditi Avasthi in 2012, the startup is a team of entrepreneurs based in Mumbai. The user can simply signup for a free account and start practicing any chapter.

They reviewed $4 million funding from kallari capital and lightbox ventures. Founders investing the new raised capital in research and development of more student-friendly deep test to improve the performance of enrolled students. The team also planning to expand the same concept for medical students.

as per Embibe, they claim to have 15000 website users. Their major point in the Edutech competition is they provide doubt resolution section with the mentoring and tutorials which helps students to build confidence and quick learning from mistakes.

BYJU’s: the learning app

Founded way back in 2008 by Mr. Byju Raveendran the app offer training for preparation of different competitive entrance examinations like JEE, CAT, IAS, FRE, GMAT, etc.

The company raised $50 million from the Chan Zuckerberg initiative and sequoia capital along with other investors In September 2016. The firm reported INR 30 crore in profits in June 2016.

The app provides interactive activities and videos to learn for personalized tutoring. The mobile app crossed 5 million installs in play store with 2.5 lakhs of the paid subscriber which is a huge user base.

Nayi Disha

Nayi Disha founded by Kushal Bhagia and Kartik Aneja in the year 2012. The company makes different involving education applications for students. They also developed educational games for pre-schoolers to promote learning while playing concept with motion sense technology.

Nayi Disha raised INR 2 crore in seed funding that is used by the company to expand operations across the globe.

As per the team, they are serving 50 schools across the nation currently including schools in metros like Bangalore and Delhi. They have created 30 children friendly apps till now. The process of learning is too friendly that teachers do not need to get the burden of bringing kids to study.

Educart: Courses for everyone

Educart app is founded by Ishaan Gupta, Vijay Shekhar Sharma, and Mayank Gupta in the year 2011 with the purpose of providing Indian and international coursed such as executive MBA, MBA, MSc, MCA, BA, BBA, BCom, and others. The concept is online distance learning where they offer various undergraduate and postgraduate courses for high school students including several degrees and diploma for entrance exams and certification courses from recognized universities.

Educart recently raised $1 million from Holostik Group’s United Finsec, YouWeCan ventures and others. The Educart system running partnership with more than 95 courses providers to promote registrations in 2000 plus courses offered by them.

Currently, they have 2000+ courses that they are planning to increase to 10000 and partnering with 500-course providers in future.

These and many other online tutoring companies in India rising to take the education next level. Each startup offers something unique that differs from others and add values to learning method. At the end, it is the student who selects any course and gets the maximum out of it. Let’s see how these startups change the face of education industry in India.
