Cityfurnish is revolutionizing the on demand rental industry in India
Cityfurnish help customers by fulfilling their temporary furnishing needs, be it home or office. By offering premium solid wooden furniture and branded appliances, they are making renting cool for the millennial and hence providing a temporary solution.
What made them choose
The main difference between them and the competitors in the market would be the approach towards shared economy. Their main focus it to provide superior service and products with complete wooden furniture range and make the customers happy. Neerav felt that, a fine balance between inventory and marketplace model would be the key to success in this space and started working on Cityfurnish with couple of his friends in September 2015 and by September end they were able to make 50+ rentals.
Neerav Jain-The Entrepreneur
Neerav Jain is a graduate from KMC, Delhi University. During his hotel life at DU, he tried renting furniture for himself but was not satisfied with the quality. This made him shift furniture from home till his graduation. He later went on for further studies to learn Business Innovation techniques at Utrecht University. Neerav has work experience with Pepperfry and Chandra Sekhar Exports.
How did they overcome the challenges
The biggest challenge for them was to develop a tech enabled model to optimise product management and deployment based on minimum unit costing. Through some guided insights by mentors and trial and error approach they have developed a backend model and are continuously updating it for further optimization.

Not Bootstrapped ! Observation and Partnerships
Cityfurnish was initially funded by Citrus Pay’s co-founder Jitendra Kumar for expanding the core team and include new verticals. Talks with the other investors are under progress. So far
- 13000+ Items were rented from March, 2016.
- 60% growth/month is observed.
- Vendor network doubled in the last quarter.
- More than 10 partnerships with Industry leaders like OYO and GRABHOUSE.
In the mere future they are planning to add more vendors and verticals on this platform by reducing lead time of order servicing to 1 working day and adding more furniture options to enable a wider selection. Very soon they are planning to start catering temporary furnishing needs for events and start operations in Pune by August end and in Mumbai by December.
