US-based Cab Aggregator Lyft acquired Pune-based Startup FinitePath

Uber’s biggest rival abroad Lyft has acquired a Pune –San Jose startup FinitePath for an undisclosed amount to hire India’s large talent base to solve its global technology problems. Following the acquisition, FinitePaths founders, Vinay Kakade and Balaji Raghavan, will be joining Lyft.

About the startups:

FinitePath was founded in year February 2016 by Abijit Vaidya, Vinay Kakade and Balaji Raghavan. The startup aims to guide users through the decisions that they need to make throughout their life. The small team has a great deal of experience in building and scaling products and infrastructures.

Before founding FinitePaths, Kakade had co-created Amazon’s CloudSearch Elasticsearch Service, while Raghavan was with search engine giant Google as an engineer.

Lyft earlier known as Zimride, a US-based cab aggregator re-incorporated in May 2012, by Logan Green and John Zimber. Lyft is a peer-to-peer transportation platform that connects passengers who need rides with drivers willing to provide rides using their own personal vehicles. The total equity funding of Lyft is of $2.01 Billion and has the total of 36 investors. Apart from this, Lyft has also acquired other US-based startups like LEO, Hitch, Rover and Cherry.

Luc Vincent, VP of Engineering at Lyft said, ““We are very excited to have Balaji and Vinay join our team. They have extensive experience building large scale infrastructure and services. We see this experience as playing a critical role in helping us tackle some of the unique challenges we have at Lyft.”

Post acquisition, the whole team of finitePaths will be working at Lyft office in the States. Read more about Indian Startup
