Women empowerment platform Sheroes acquires Babygogo

Sheroes is a New Delhi-based women empowerment platform. The firm provides health tips and career guidance to women on its website. The firm even helps women find suitable life partners on its website! Sheroes announced yesterday (27/12/2017) that it has acquired the Delhi-based, child healthcare startup, Babygogo. Sheroes did not reveal the exact amount for which it bought Babygogo. According to VC Circle, the founders of Babygogo will become co-founders of Sheroes as part of the acquisition deal.

This is the second acquisition by Sheroes this year (2017). Prior to acquiring Babygogo, Sheroes had acquired the Bengaluru-based women-oriented career guidance platform, Women Restart, for an undisclosed amount.

Babygogo was founded by Siddhartha Ahluwalia, Sowrabh N R S and Satyadeep Karnati in 2014. The startup was owned and run by AddoDoc Technologies Pvt. Ltd. until this acquisition. Babygogo provided parental advice to mothers on its website by means of articles about baby food, baby health and day-to-day care, posted on its website. The website was so good and useful that if any mother posted any queries on the website, experienced doctors and mothers used to respond within minutes! Parents could also save their baby’s health records, get vaccination reminders and track their child’s growth using Babygogo’s website or mobile app.

“Over a period of time, we have found that the queries of mothers go beyond the realm of baby care, and they also post queries and have conversations around careers, mental health and personal care. Through this acquisition, Babygogo community members can benefit from the strong ecosystem of Sheroes, as well as through their relationships and existing women’s communities”, said Ahluwalia.

The other baby/parental care startups to get funded this year (2017) include the baby care startup, BabyDestination.com, which raised Rs. 2 crores in seed round of funding from the New York-based angel investor, Tariq Khanand the Delhi – based VC firm, GEMs Partners during December, this year. The parenting startup, Parentune, raised an undisclosed amount of Pre Series funding from Kae Capital and SEGNEL Ventures during March, this year. The parenting startup, Tinystep, raised US $2 million (Rs. 13 crores) in Pre Series round of funding from Flipkart during January, this year (2017) just to name a few.
