Eicher Polaris is a 50:50 joint venture between Eicher Motors and Polaris Industries Inc. The company has appointed Pankaj Dubey as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Pankay Dubey, who is also the Managing Director of Polaris India Ltd, will also occupy the position of CEO of Eicher Polaris Pvt Ltd with immediate effect, Eicher Polaris (EPPL) said in a statement. Pankaj Dubey will be taking over the position from Radhesh C Verma, the current CEO of EEPL.
Eicher Polaris aims to manufacture and sell a full range of new personal utility vehicles suitable for India and other emerging markets. It caters to the needs of independent businessmen. Eicher and Polaris signed a strategic joint venture agreement in July, 2012. Eicher is backed by an investment of Rs. 350 crores from Polaris and EPPL combines Eicher’s proven expertise in frugal engineering, lean business model and in-depth understanding of emerging markets with the product development capabilities and world – class reliability of Polaris. The company has already launched a personal utility vehicle called Multix.
Pankaj has done post – graduation in business management from University Of Allahabad in Monirba. He also has an additional qualification in program on leading and managing from the Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata. Pankaj had also worked with automobile companies like Hero MotoCorp., LML and Yamaha before he joined Eicher Polaris.
Personal utility vehicles are on great demand in India and other emerging markets as the need for transporting commodities and goods increases multifold. Many independent and private businessmen play an important role in transporting goods and commodities to markets in India and require high – performance personal utility vehicles like Multix, launched by Eicher Polaris. The personal utility vehicle segment in India has seen stiff competition between companies with companies like Mahindra launching vehicles like Maximo and Genio and companies like Piaggio launching ape.
