OLA and Uber face hunger strike in Hyderabad

Situation for Ola and Uber in Hyderabad seems to very bad. For the last 5 days all the cab services in Hyderabad are on the halt as the Telangana association of cab drivers called for a strike following reduced incentives and rides for the existing drivers among the other issues.

In the latest the association declared that they will go for indefinite hunger strike if their problems are not resolved. Today morning though there was a strike I got Ola share to office. I asked the driver about reason for strike. Here are top reasons he quotes.

  1. Ola is providing cab at 30 thousand rupees to a new driver and giving more rides to them as they get more revenue out of It.
  2. They are not getting enough rides to meet their expenses.
  3. Apart form this we have regular issues where there payment delays when Customer complains.
  4. I have to ride 18 hours a day to meet my targets.

When asked if the same issue persists with Uber he says that “Uber is not running their own fleet of cabs but other issues are same with any other cab agreegator and this need a standard rules to protect drivers interest also.

There is also discussion that Association of cab drivers are planning their own taxi app through which they can control the pricing and equality for all. If this happens to be successful  in one city, then it might lead to similar replication on other cities also.

Watch out Uber and Ola threat is looming big apart from problems faced by customers.
