Indians have outshined in various fields abroad and have touched the niche of global companies also. India is known for producing the most brilliant minds in the world’s history. And Indians seem to be leading in the sector when it comes to doing business, too. CEOs of Indian origin rule the world, especially those who work in the technology industry, with Google and Microsoft, the two market giants that form the globe, being the biggest examples where Indian CEOs are there. Sundar Pichai– Sundar Pichai is an Indian born American business executive who is working successfully as the CEO of Google LLC and Alphabet, Inc. He started his career in 2004 in Google and now is the CEO. He is born in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India, and now is 47 years old. He earned a degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur and M.S in Material Science and Engineering from Stanford University. From Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, he earned an MBA degree. Previously been named Product Chief by CEO Larry Page, Pichai was chosen to become Google’s next CEO on August 10, 2015. On 24 October 2015, after the completion of the establishment of Alphabet Inc., a new holding company for the Google family of businesses, he moved into a new role.

Arvind Krishna– Arvind Krishna is successfully working with IBM for over two decades and is now the CEO of IBM. He began his career in IBM Research as an engineer and in 2015; he was promoted to vice president and in April 2020 to CEO. Arvind Krishna was born in West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, India. His parents were into Army services. Completing schooling from St. Joseph’s Academy, Dehradun, and Stanes School, Tamil Nadu, he received his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. He is a Ph.D. degree holder in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1990. On January 31, 2020, he was promoted to become IBM CEO, replacing Ginni Rometty, who has been CEO since 2012.

Satya Nadella– Satya Nadella is another esteemed personality from Hyderabad present-day Telangana. He is the CEO of Microsoft. Attending primary education from the Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering in 1988 from Manipal Institute of Technology, Karnataka. He holds M.S. in Computer Science and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin and University of Chicago Booth School of Business in 1996. Before joining Microsoft in 1992, Nadella served at Sun Microsystems as a member of its technology team. Nadella oversaw big initiatives at Microsoft, which included the company’s transition to cloud computing and the creation of one of the world’s biggest cloud infrastructures.

Shantanu Narayen- Hyderabad-born, Shantanu Narayen is the chairman, president, and CEO of Adobe, Inc. He holds his bachelor’s in Electronics and Communication from University College of Engineering, Osmania University in Hyderabad. He began his career in Apple. After Apple, Narayen worked as director of Silicon Graphics software and communication devices and then co-founded Pictra Inc., a company that pioneered the idea of distributing digital images over the Internet. In 1998, Narayen joined Adobe as a senior vice president of global product analysis and was later promoted to executive vice president of global products and promoted to CEO at the age of 45 in November 2007.

Ajaypal Singh Banga– Born to an Indian Lieutenant General Harbhajan Singh, Ajaypal Singh Banga is the CEO of MasterCard. He is born in Pune, Maharashtra and his family is originally from Jalandhar, Punjab. Ajaypal holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in Economics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University. He attained PGP in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmadabad. He spent 13 years working in positions covering advertising, marketing, and general management at the outset of his corporate career with Nestlé in 1981. He later joined PepsiCo as the economy liberalized and was active in the opening of its multinational fast-food franchises in India.

Jayshree Ullal- Born in London but brought up in New Delhi, Jayshree is an American billionaire businesswoman who is president and CEO of Aritsa Networkd (a cloud networking company). Ullal started her career at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Fairchild Semiconductor with engineering and strategy posts. Before joining Crescendo Communications, she was Director of Internetworking Products at Ungermann-Bass for four years. At Crescendo, Ullal became vice president of marketing, working for the first CDDI devices and first generation Ethernet networking, 100-Mbit/s over copper. She received Masters Degree in Engineering Management from Santa Clara University. 

Rajeev Suri- New Delhi born and Kuwait rose; Rajeev Suri is the CEO of Nokia Inc since April 2014. He is a Singaporean business executive and alumni of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Karnataka. He holds Bachelor’s of Engineering in Electronics and Communications. 

Laxman Narasimhan-Having been chief commercial officer at Pepsico, Laxman is now the CEO of Reckitt Benckiser and is an Indian-American Business Executive. He is a Mechanical Engineering degree holder from College of Engineering, Savitribai Phule Pune University, India. He attained MA in German and International Studies and MBA in Finance from The Launder Institute and Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. 

Vivek Sankaran- Vivek is an Indian serving Albertsons as the president and CEO. He previously served as the CEO of PepsiCo Foods North America. He is a graduate in Mechanical Engineering, attained master’s degree in Industrial Engineering. He earned MBA from University of Michigan.

 Ivan Menezes- Born in July 1959 in Pune, Ivan Menezes is the CEO of Diageo plc. He studied at St. Stephen’s College, Delhi and Indian Institute of Management Ahmadabad. He travelled abroad to study at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. In 1997, Ivan joined Diageo and held numerous senior roles, including: Chief Executive Officer; Latin America & Caribbean Chairman; Asia Pacific Chairman; Diageo North America President and CEO; and Diageo North America Chief Operating Officer.

Nikesh Arora-Nikesh Arora is currently the CEO of Palo Alto Networks and CFA designation holder. He was a former Google executive. He was born to an Indian Air Force Officer so completed his schooling The Air Force School. He is an alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology and holds bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering. He completed MBA from Boston College, Northwestern University.
