The internet search engine tech giant, Google, said today that seven Indian startups have been chosen for the third class of its Launchpad Accelerator program. The shortlisted startups from India include an on-demand wardrobe rentals service, Flyrobe, furniture and appliances rental service, RentoMojo and tutor help service, HashLearn. Other chosen startups include Curofy, a platform for doctors to discuss medical cases with peers, Happy Adda Studios, offers an Indian word game Jalebi, Playment, allows users to earn money for playing games and Kapture CRM, helps businesses to do better lead management. These Indian startups will join startups from Brazil, Indonesia, Mexico Argentina, Colombia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam as part of Google’s Launchpad Accelerator Program, this year. These startups will receive perks from Google like six months long intensive mentoring, all – expenses – paid boot camp (for six months) and also equity – free investments of upto U.S. $50,000! The Launchpad Accelerator Program of Google will kick start in January next year from San Francisco. “Over the last one year, thirteen Indian startups have participated in the program and many have already gained from the program and have successfully risen funding”, Launchpad Accelerator Program Manager, Paul Ravindranath G said. India is populous country with a vast talent pool and a bubbling startup ecosystem. The startups in India are very innovative and provide essential products or services to the society. They have creative, educated and hard – working people working for them. They have the potential to make a big, positive difference to the Indian economy, but need mentoring, incubating and funding. It is heartening to see a tech giant like Google provide mentoring to Indian startups among other startups. The startups can definitely learn a lot from Google’s accelerator program and become successful in the Indian market and globally. What’s even more heartening to see is that Google will invest upto U.S. $50,000 in startups that too equity free once the accelerator program is completed! It is a matter of pride for India that Indian startups have been chosen among other startups for Google’s accelerator program. Indian startups having already attended this program and having benefited from it and more Indian startups continuously applying for Google’s accelerator program is also heartening to see.
