Online Fashion marketplace Elanic has now acquired an online marketplace for pre-owned toys and apparel for children platform SecondCry. This new deal will allow both companies to widen their product portfolio, while also opening doors to new market opportunities.

According to Anjali Goyal, co-founder, Secondcry, following the acquisition, the platform will soon migrate to Elanic and she will be joining the company as head of categories.

Elanic is a Bangalore-based startup founded in 2015 by co-founders Abhilash Narahari, Palkush Rai Chawla and Aditi Rohan. The startup is a social peer-to-peer marketplace for pre-owned items in India. We enable everyday users to sell to anyone across the country in the easiest possible manner.

Commenting on the development, Palkush Rai Chawla said, “We’ve solved some of the toughest problems which classifieds have struggled with for almost a decade. We’ve moved transactions online and have made the experience seamless for both the buyer and seller. Adding newer categories such as ‘Babies & Kids’ is the logical next step for us.”

SecondCry was also founded in 2015 by co-founders Anjali Goyal and Ankur Jain. The startup is a Peer-2-Peer marketplace for parents to a buy-sell-donate kid’s outgrown stuff among a community of wise & prudent parents who believe in our philosophy of no wastefulness.

Anjali Goyal, CEO and Co-Founder. SecondCry said: ” “Elanic and SecondCry share the vision of promoting collaborative consumption. Like Elanic, SecondCry has tried to build a community where buying and selling pre-owned goods is easy, and in fact more fun than hoarding. This move is a non-zero-sum game not only because we have a huge overlap, but also this a sweet extension of our target demographic – young women and moms! While Elanic provides a mature and interactive platform, SecondCry will live on there as their ‘Babies & Kids’ category.” Read more about Indian Startup Ecosystem.
