Cybereason is a Boston – based cyber – security startup. The startup announced on 21/06/2017 that it has secured an investment of US $1 billion from its biggest investor, SoftBank Corp. Cybereason will use the funds from this investment to develop new technologies and increase distribution channels. SoftBank, which is a subsidiary of SoftBank Group Corp, is also one of Cybereason’s biggest customer and distribution partner. So far, Cybereason has raised a total of US $189 million in investments from its existing investors like CRV, Spark Capital, Lockheed Martin and SoftBank since its inception in 2012. Cybereason designs internet security products which helps big firms protect their data and their products against cyberattacks, such as the recent WannaCry ransomware attack. The WannaCry ransomware attack stole sensitive private information from over 3,00,000 computers in factories, hospitals, shops and schools in over 150 countries around the world. The other cyber security startups that got funded this year include Kratikal which raised an undisclosed amount of seed funding from a clutch of angel investors like Amajit Gupta, former director of Microsoft India along with Praveen Dubey co-founder of Mutual PR and J.P.Bhatt, co-founder and CEO of ImpactQA during January, this year (2017). Another cyber security startup, Sequretek IT Solutions Pvt. Ltd. raised an undisclosed amount of funding in Series A round of funding from its existing investors like GVFL (formerly Gujarat Venture Finance Limited) and Unicorn India Ventures during May, this year (2017).
