BlackBuck is a Bengaluru – based business to business (B2B) logistics startup, which is owned and run by Zinka Logistics Solutions Pvt. Ltd. The startup announced yesterday (29/11/2017) that it has appointed former Dubai-based online retailing platform, Souq’s CTO, Dinesh Ajmera, as its CTO (Chief Technology Officer). Souq was acquired by the e-commerce giant, Amazon, during March, this year (2017). Dinesh Ajmera will lead any technology upgrades or technology projects BlackBuck undertakes in the future, BlackBuck said in a statement. Read more on Logistics Startup
“Dinesh brings years of experience in building and scaling technologies. His addition to the leadership will not only provide an impetus to technology-centric innovations but also accelerate BlackBuck’s growth”, said Rajesh Yabaji, co-founder and CEO of BlackBuck.
Four months prior to this appointment BlackBuck had appointed Arvind Singhal, former CEO at the internet based jewelry retailing platform, BlueStone, as its COO (Chief Operating Officer). The other e-commerce giant, Flipkart, is an investor at BlackBuck and its co-founder, Binny Bansal is actually a member of BlackBuck’s Board of Directors (BoD). Ajmera is a computer engineering graduate from IIT Bombay and also holds a master’s degree from the University of California. Prior to working in Souq (as their CEO), he worked for the technology and real estate firm, CommonFloor.com, as their vice president. He also worked with Walmart, Amazon, Oracle and Microsoft!
“BlackBuck is a pioneer in the online freight ecosystem and aims to disrupt this space with the power of data and technology”, Ajmera said.
BlackBuck was founded in 2015 by IIT Kharagpur alumni Yabaji, Chanakya Hridaya and Ramasubramaniam B. The startup provides long-distance trucking solutions for businesses. It acts as an aggregator of shippers and truckers through its online platform (website and mobile app) and facilitates intercity goods transportation for businesses. Companies like Asian Paints, Unilever, Coke, Britannia, Godrej, Marico, Jyothy Laboratories and EID Parry are its clients.
