The Andhra Pradesh Innovation Society (APIS) has tied-up with thousands of established business personalities from across India to provide ‘master training’ and incubation to budding entrepreneurs in the state. This, according to APIS, will foster startup growth in the state. APIS plans to foster around one thousand new and successful startups in the state by the end of 2019.
APIS has setup startup incubation centres across the state, which will help startups, commercialize their ideas through product development, market research and market exposure. In the year, 2017, around eighty new startups were established in the state with the help of incubation centres in the state. If an entrepreneur has an innovative idea but does not know how to make his idea/product commercial, he/she will be given basic skills training at an incubation centre and will then be mentored by established entrepreneurs, in his/her related field. Free accommodation is also provided to budding entrepreneurs at the incubation centres.
“We want to mark 2018 as the startup year. So we are trying our best to reach out to the youths and support them in every possible way. Our main aim is to make one entrepreneur in each family and make the State a startup hub. We have also strengthened the incubators that are working in the state and are conducting weekly workshops in all educational institutions to motivate the students”, said V. Valli Kumari, CEO of APIS.
According to The New Indian Express, APIS has set up three leading incubation centres at Visakhapatnam, Kakinada and Anantapur and an accelerator centre in Tirupati with sophisticated office accommodation and excellent facilities to commercialize the ideas of entrepreneurs. Established entrepreneurs provide technical, marketing and strategic guidance to budding entrepreneurs in the incubation centres.
Many startups fail in India due to lack of guidance, lack of funding and lack of or insufficient incubation among other reasons. This is truly a noble initiative taken by APIS to promote startups in the state. The startups in the state will be provided guidance from field experts, funding and incubation to thrive in the state. APIS has a very good chance of achieving its target of 1000 successful startups by the end of 2019 with the kind of facilities it provides to budding entrepreneurs in the state. Hopefully, other states in India follow suit and set up more organizations to promote startups in their state.
