In an interview with Livemint, Airtel India CEO, Gopal Vittal tells that market share is everything for Airtel. Without it there are no revenues, customers, and margins. There have been lots of allegations of Airtel not giving Points of intersection to Jio and many others. But Gopal Vittal tells media that Reliance Jio is launched only to stay in the market for long term only. He calls Jio’s strategy as good and bold. When asked about data he said that there will always be consumption of data, since internet is required for variety of things. Voice may reduce but data consumption will never, thanks to smart technologies. Data penetration will grow with/without the entry of Jio.
