This is the post that armed forces had looked at for twenty years after the Subrahmaniam committee report. He has clarity of idea, Synergy, Standardization. He is none other than General Bipin Rawat, was born on March 16th 1958 to Laxman Singh Rawat in Pauri Garhwal(Uttarakhand).
On January 1st 2020, General Bipin Rawat took charge as India’s first Chief of Defense Staff after serving as the 57th Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee with an instruction to bring in convergence in the functioning of all the three Indian services (The Army, The Navy and the Indian Air Force) and strengthening the overall Military prowess of the Country.
General Bipin Rawat was on board of an Indian Air Force Helicopter when it crashed in Tamil Nadu’s Coonoor on 8th December 2021. He was accompanied by his wife Dr.Madhulika Rawat and several (13) other defense personnel on the Chopper.
With his Fearless Speaking, he has stolen the minds and hearts of not only the Defense community but also the majority of people as he fought the system to bring about changes for the betterment of forces and without fear he used to speak out that the Nation must come first by ignoring the fact that he should be politically correct. Common Indians send the messages from Kashmir to Kanyakumari that General Bipin Rawat was a man whose boots will be hard to fill. Whoever does, there will be a need to build the same trust that he had gained during Doklam, the surgical strikes in Myanmar and Pakistan, currently in ongoing crisis with China. He made the Indian Armed Forces ready. He openly warned both Pakistan and China as he was clear that future battles would be territorial, so other services of India need to ensure that their villainous designs should be checkmated. He could do this as he had proved his capability in multiple dimensions during past and ongoing battles and with his rapport with the Government he gained complete trust from the Prime Minister, Defense Minister such that his advice was accepted on all occasions.
Golden Jubilee Celebrations were organized with a series of events on December 7th,12th and 14th 2021 to mark the stupendous victory of India over Pakistan, wherein around 93,000 Pakistani troops had surrendered before the joint forces of the Indian Army on 16th December 1971 due to which Bangladesh way was cleared. “Apni Senao par hai Hamein Garv, Aao Milkar Manaye Vijay Parv(We are proud of our armies, let’s celebrate victory together)” was the last public message by General Bipin Rawat, a day before (i.e., on December 7th) he passed away in a chopper crash. Ensuring the early completion of reforms set into motion by General Bipin Rawat is the best way to honor him.
