Yet another glaring example of stark disparity in job offers among engineering students. Where some engineer gradutates are still jobless, 21 year old Siddhart from Delhi Technical University, (DTU) bagged a whopping offer of 1.25 cr/ annum from US based cab service, “Uber Technologies.” His designation has been alloted as Software Engineer at Uber’s San Francisco office. While his basic pay is 71 lakhs/annum, with added benefits it rises to 1.25 cr per annum.
The job offer did not come easy. The recruitment process was rigorous where Siddhart had to solve problems onspot. After successful completion of the process, Siddhart was offered the job in Uber’s San Francisco office. Earlier Siddhart had interned with Uber for seven months. The internship might have helped him to bag this offer.
Siddhart is super excited. In an interview he said, “it was a delight to have received this job offer and now I am looking forward to move to San Francisco.’
Siddhart is the first engineer of his family. From his younger days he had special interest in computer science. When asked about his other interest, he said he loves playing video games, FIFA series and football. He even added, ‘I also manage to play guitar , though i sing terribly.”
Siddhart ranks second in the order of highest placement in DTU. In 2015, Google hired an engineer from DTU at 1.27 crore/annum. It is confirmed by R.S Walia. Head, Training and Placement, DTU. He further added. ‘we already have 1050 offers from different companies. Around 200 companies have already visited the college and more are in the line.”

Shoddy journalism. Do you guys even have an idea about the average salaries in San Francisco? Converting a US salary into INR and coming up with a story is one of the many reasons sites like these come and go every other year.
