Food delivery startup Holachef secures investments

Holachef Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. is a Mumbai – based food delivery startup. The startup announced yesterday (01/12/2017) that it has raised Rs. 8.95 crores in Series B round of funding by means of both equity investments from a clutch of angel investors and investments from VC firms. Out of the Rs. 8.95 crores that the startup raised, Rs. 2.95 crores was pumped in through angel investors by means of equity investments. Some big VC firms like, the Singapore – based Innoven Capital also participated in that round of funding and contributed Rs. 6 crores to the investment. Read more on Investments

Holachef was founded by Saurabh Saxena and Anil Gelra in 2014. The startup specializes in preparing and delivering ready-to-eat, home-cooked food to customers. The startup employs in-house chefs who prepare a wide variety of dishes like Indian and global cuisines, deserts, beverages, soups and salads. Holachef presently only operates in Mumbai in a hundred pin codes in the city. It plans to use the funds to upgrade its technology platform (mobile app) and increase its footprint across India. Holachef raised Rs. 20 crores in Series A round of funding from Kalaari Capital and India Quotient during June, 2015.

The other food delivery startups that got funded this year (2017) include the food tech startup, Authenticook, which raised Rs. 1.45 crores in Pre Series round of funding from Booking.com. The food tech startup, Wegan Foods, secured an undisclosed amount of seed funding from UAE’s princess, Sheikha Arwa Al Qassimi, during June, this year. The Delhi – based food tech startup, Ketchupp, raised Rs. 3 crores in seed round of funding from India Quotients and a clutch of angel investors during January, this year. The food tech startup, EazyDiner secured an undisclosed amount of seed funding from YouWeCan during June, this year. The food tech startup, Box8, raised Rs. 7 crores in Series B round of funding from IIFL Seed Ventures Fund & Mayfield during May, this year. The food tech startup, Fassos, secured Rs. 41 crores in Series D round of funding from Lightbox Ventures II, Lightbox Expansion Fund, Sequoia Capital India, RuNet South Asia and RB Investments during April, this year (2017) just to name a few.
