Global software major, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has contrary with the latest trend of IT Industry. The IT giant has denied any plans of laying off employees and instead plans to create more jobs in future. This statement cheer lakhs of IT professionals and job aspirants seeking to enter the $150-billion industry.
Rajesh Gopinath, MD, and CEO of TCS quoted: ” No, certainly not. There are no plans of laying off employees like many other big firms. We are here to create jobs, not to downsize.”
This is welcome news for the professionals in the IT sector after recent developments in the IT sector. The news comes at a time when it has been reported that Indian software companies like Wipro, Infosys, and Cognizant have decided to downsize, Gopinathan’s revelation that TCS is not going to follow suit is seen as a welcome development.
Recently, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on Thursday opened eastern India’s largest Business Processing Output (BPO) center in Patna, which boosted lots of IT professional who are seeking for the jobs.
The new BPO center was inaugurated by Union minister of electronics and information technology Ravi Shankar Prasad, in the presence of Bihar education and information technology minister Ashok Choudhary, local MP and Union minister Ram Kripal Yadav and TCS CEO Rajesh Gopinathan.
Commenting on the new facility, Rajesh Gopinathan said: ” This will be a robust center with an aim to create an enabling ecosystem in the region. It would play a critical role in energizing the whole region.This project will build talent base to play seed capital to boost digital economic in the region.The center would help create a talent pool for India tomorrow. It would also help attract ancillary units and supporting units to the state.”
According to Software Technology Parks of India DG Omkar Rai, said: “Bihar has allocated 4,600 seats under the IBPS, out of which 1,910 have been allotted to successful companies for setting up BPO and ITES (IT-enabled services) operations.”
He continued, “Among those 4,600 seats TCS will be getting around 1000 seats. The nine other companies have been allocated 910 seats for opening BPO/ ITES set-ups at Patna, Muzaffarpur and Dalsinghsarai, a sub-divisional town in Samastipur district. A 100-seat BPO will soon come up at Dalsinghsarai.”
TCS is India’s largest IT firm in terms of market capital and holds up the majority of placement drive across the country. It has a presence in 45 countries employing approx 4 Lakh expert professionals.
