Sources say that Chief of Business Development at NSE (National Stock Exchange), Ravi Varanasi aims to fill the NSE CEO position. Mr Varanasi is with NSE for more than 22 years and rumour says that he is close enough to Ravi Narain (Md & CEO from 2001 and 2013) to recommend him as the new CEO.
The CEO chair went vacant last month when Chitra Ramakrishnan resigned without any prior notice. A hiring committee has been formed to select the next CEO of NSE. Initially it was announced that a CEO outside NSE is preferred, but latest updates show that the hiring committee prefers to hire from within the organization. Notice to all employees has been sent to apply for this position if they meet the criteria.
Present and former employees are applying for this position, right before NSE planning to go public. By this month end the new CEO will be appointed.
