Apple WWDC 2017 Highlights: Whats new?

The Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC)is an annual conference held in California by Apple Inc. Apple uses the event to showcase its new software and technologies for software developers. Attendees can participate in hands-on labs with Apple engineers, and in-depth sessions covering a wide variety of topics.

At Apple’s WWDC 2017 keynote, the key executives Craig Federighi, Phil Schiller, and, of course, Tim Cook, took the stage to announce updates headed to iPhones, MacBooks, Apple TV, and more.

The 29th WWDC by Apple is taking place in the city of San Jose, California. The event is something similar to Google’s I/O where the technical possibilities of the company. Here are the highlights of the event:

iOS 11:

The iOS 11 will be all about subtle changes, some artificial intelligence and a very clear advantage for iPad Pro devices. Apple’s own apps including Siri, Apple Music, Photos, and Mail will get significant updates, while deep learning technology will understand a user’s preferences over time for better Siri responses, text suggestions, content to read and more.

The unveiling of new iMac Pro:

After a long time, Apple has finally updated its PC, the all new 5K iMac Pro for 2017. It is main focused on It’s a VR-ready beast that will come packing up to 18-cores, 16GB of vRAM, and AMD Vega graphics.

Siri-Powered Speaker, HomePod:

An internet-connected speaker called HomePod is coming in December for about $350. The speaker is similar to cheaper devices from Amazon and Google. Besides playing music, Apple’s Siri digital assistant will also respond to requests for information and other help around the house.

10.5 inch iPad:

The iPad Pro will now be available in three different sizes, with a new 10.5-inch model introduced today. There’s a 12-megapixel camera, just like the iPhone 7, with a 7MP selfie cam. It supports USB 3.0 and has 10 hours of battery life. The 10.5-inch iPad Pro will be available starting with a 64GB configuration at $649; it’s available to order now and shipping next week.

MacOS High Sierra:

The next operating system for your MacBook and iMac is all about under-the-hood improvements. The macOS will also support the High-Efficiency Video Coding video standard, which will be able to save 40% storage space as compared to the earlier H.264 standard. Safari, Photos, and Mail apps have also been improved. The OS will roll out later in the year, as a free update for existing users.

Apple WatchOS 4:

WWDC
Apple Watch will have three new faces- Siri, Kaleidoscope, and Toy Story. Each one will have a strong focus on usability, a move in line with Apple’s push towards creating a better user experience. Other improvements in the WatchOS will be activity tracker, music, and a horizontal menu system.
