BabyDestination.com is an Ahmedabad – based digital parenting startup that provides parenting information and resources online to parents who are seeking advice regarding raising their baby. One can choose his/her baby’s age and gender on the website and relevant information on how to raise their baby will be provided on the website (both text and video content) depending on the baby’s age and gender entered. The startup announced yesterday (18/12/2017) that it has raised Rs. 2 crores in seed round of funding from the New York-based angel investor, Tariq Khan and the Delhi – based VC firm, GEMs Partners. The startup plans to use the funds secured to improve the design and content on its website and to enhance personalized user experiences, thereby enhancing the Average Revenue Per User (ARPU).
“The fresh capital will be utilized towards pushing internal growth and for hiring in our key areas such as technology and product development, community management, business development and marketing and sales”, said BabyDestination.com’s founder, Tamanna Dhamija.
“Our aim is to achieve at least 1 million monthly user sessions by next year end (2018) and become operationally EBITDA positive, as we continue expanding our B2B Client base, tie-ups and revenues”, said the co-founder of BabyDestination.com and Tamanna Dhamija’s husband, Tarun Dhamija.
Due to the advancements in Science, Technology and Internet (social media and other websites), parents in India these days have changed radically. More and more adults are surfing online for access to accurate parenting information and resources among other needs. This is the opportunity BabyDestination.com is looking to tap into with its online micro-communities, social media engagement, video parenting and offline mom and kids events.
The other digital parenting startups to get funded this year (2017) include the digital parenting startup, Parentune, which secured an undisclosed amount of seed funding from the VC firms, Kae Capital and the Singapore-based SEGNEL Ventures during March, this year. The digital parenting startup, Tinystep, raised US $2 million in Pre Series round of funding from Flipkart during January, this year and the digital parenting startup, Pinwi, secured an undisclosed amount of seed funding from the VC firm, Mothers, during December 2016.
