Khaas is “Diya” for the abandoned
Acid attack is a form of violent assault. Perpetrators of these attacks throw acid at their victims, usually at their faces, burning them, and damaging skin tissue, often exposing and sometimes dissolving the bones. These victims are abandoned by the society because of their looks and are given opportunities nowhere. This is not going to be an issue anymore. Khaas is a startup organization founded by Mr.Akash Bharadwaj in 2012 at Delhi which is run by the acid attack victims and visually-challenged persons dealing with the tourism packages for both national and international spots. It also deals with event management, family tour packages for both domestic and international, corporate tours and school/college trips.
It was a big challenge for Akash to set up this organization. He visited famous tourist spots all over, sleep in car, walked along hill stations and mingled with locals to learn and explore about the places which made him deal with his clients in the best possible way. Akash once, noticed an abandoned acid attack victim selling balloons with her infant. This made him think about the employment opportunities for them. Since then, with his 13 years of HR experience, he was able to recruit the acid attack victims and the visually challenged. Until then he was working on this alone for 2 years.
Currently there are six to seven people including five visually challenged girls working for this organization at Delhi. They help in fixing appointments to the clients and assist the customers by mailing them based on their requirements
Revenue and Future Plans
This bootstrapped company is currently trying to reach out the corporate organizations and NGOs for funding. It earns around 15-20% of profit on the total billing and also provides discounts for the senior citizens, abandoned women and children and disabled persons. Khaas is planning to expand the organization on big level by opening branches, printing about Khaas on handy bags, ticketing folder services and also by marketing about the organization through FM across the country in coming years. Once when done with many branch openings across the country, a proposal will be made to all the visually challenged and acid attack victims to join their company for a bright future. They are trained well and working on internet is a cake-walk for them. Thereby creating employment opportunities to those who are abandoned by the society.
